The results are in for the Dimension Wars 1st Fusion Contest, I would like to thank everyone who took part and just want to noted that while there were three judges at the beginning we extended it to four, still one opted out of writing critiques so the overall opinions here may not exactly reflect why the two winners won
First place: (who get a colored, full body pic by
8 recognizability, 8 creativity Gry and Max's features are very easy to tell in this fusion with both Max's body head and tail and Gry's pants and tattoo visible. However Dee's identifying feature here is mostly the coloring of the body which is a bit disappointing. That being said it's still a wonderful looking fusion, the creature looks to have broken free from some sort of chains and is ready to pounce on an enemy.
Judge 2: 10 recognizability, 10 creativity. It is easily recognizable not only who is mixed but the attitude this new character will have. The color choices are very frosty and vibrant and the motion is great.
Judge 3: 8 recognizability, 10 creativity. This fusion is insane. The dynamics of the character, the lighting and everything is very well put together. I did have some issues identifying Dee as part of the fusion, however I'm assuming it's the fact that the character is white and his eye has some red in it. However it's really clear that you can see Max and Gry's forms in the fusion. The pose gives us a sense of the character, a normally cheerful friendly max with the aggression of a powerful Gry show very well here. I would have given 10/10, but recognizability was kind of difficult with Dee so I had to take points off for that. But otherwise a very, VERY strong design and development of the fusion.
2nd Place: (who get a colored half body from

Judge 1: 9 recognizability, 8 creativity. Both the characters influence are very apparent here, keeping Reena's red eye and Gry's heterochromia was a nice touch. There is not much else to say about the fusion.
Judge 2: 10 Recognizability, 9 creativity. Everything is fantastic. The clothes are fused perfectly and Gry and Reena work so well together from head to toe and it's impossible to tell where Gry begins and Reena begins. Only criticism I can give this piece is the stiff pose.
Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 8 creativity. The design really pops out as a powerful character. The design reflects both Gry and Reena very well as you can clearly see elements from both. What I really like from this is that there isn't only a change of clothes, but a fusion of the clothing design AND colors. This is an aspect that is really interesting and I think works well for the fusion. I also like the fact that she has two tails, one which is clearly Gry's and the other being Reena's. What I would have liked to see is more of her powers. You showed a fire coming from Gryna's eye, a trait to have come from Reena. It would really have hit the nail on the head if you added some smoke to showcase Gry's powers as well, showing a fusion on both a physical and spiritual scale as well. Overall I think it's a very strong fusion and I love the design.
The rest of the entries:
8 recognizability, 9 creativity. Brandon's influence is clear but not super apparent in this fusion. Even so the mixing of the colors from Truck's body and Brandon's shirt are good and the details from the sword on the hook are a nice touch.
Judge 2: 7
Recognizability, 7 Creativity. The clothing choice is great but it feels a bit more like a cosplay and less like a fusion.Judge 3: 7 recognizability, 6 creativity. Great work. I really like the necktie addition to the character. You can see clearly that it's truck and the purple hair is a nice touch indicating that it's Brandon. I will be honest, however aside from the tie and the purple hair it took me a little longer to see what other parts of brandon was present. I think you did a really awesome job with the hook. Turning it into brandon's sword while maintaining the recognizable shape and form of the hook. That kind of creativity for a fusion is what I would like to see more of in the future. While I like the overall design it feels more like a clothes swap rather than a fusion. There are overall elements from both, however it feels a little too much more like truck dominates this design with small elements of brandon. Overall, the design is good. Expanding a little more on clothing fusion design would definitely benefit for the future, much like you did with the hook and Brandon's sword.
Judge 1: 9 recognizably, 7 creativity. This fusion exudes attitude, the combination of the two contrasting girls makes for a very tough looking schoolgirl in the end.
Judge 2: 7 Recognizability, 6 Creativity. You can tell who is fused but the resulting fusion feels a bit generic.
Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 7 creativity. I really like her outfit. You can see that it combines both Muki and Amanda's style giving off the bad girl vibe. It's interesting to see how layered the fusion is. At first you see Muki's schoolgirl clothes, but then upon closer inspection you can see that AManda's clothes are hidden underneath with the hoodie around her waist. Great work. While I like the simplicity of it, I think it would have benefitted you more if you added some twists or artistic liberties of the design. It feels very formal and true to the character's original design. While I do like the layering of the clothes, the design of the clothes themselves could have been altered a bit more. However overall it's a very good design and quite appealing to me.
9 recognizability, 8 creativity. With three characters two of which who are human it's difficult to make them all stand out within a fusion. This one doesn't do to bad of a job, Bolt and Dreamcast's influence are very apparent while X's is obviously mixed with Bolt's robotic hand arm. While the fusion is nice to look at it doesn't do a wonderful thing creatively.
Judge 2: 7 r
ecognizability, 7 Creativity. The pose is menacing and compliments the clothes nicelyJudge 3: The design looks really good. I like the elements of Bolts' normal labcoat being turned into a long wraith-like cloak reminiscent of Dreamcast's powers. His augmented arm really shows the twisted nature of dreamcast while retaining the robotic element that comes from Bolt's regular arm. Even though you left Bolt's face the same, you can see the twisted character of Dreamcast, seemingly taking over his body. It's a nice touch. A very solid design. I do wish that there was a little bit more shadow action or blood across the fusion, but it's a small detail that can be overlooked easily. Good work.
9 recognizability, 8 creativity. The mixture of Seras and Grimshaw really makes sense given they are both a type of dragon. I don't really understand why the fusion only has one wing when both fused characters have two, but the details the changing of the gun Seras uses was a nice touch. Overall I can tell the influence both characters have on the fusion and it is nice to look at, just nothing too crazy creatively.
Judge 2: 7 Recognizability, 8 Creativity. The pose is sassy and the effect with the gun is fantastic. The fusion with the hair is very creative.
Judge 3: You really bring out the elements of both Grimshaw and Seras together. You can clearly see the flare that comes from grimshaw on Seras's body. It's a very strong design, showing not just a physical level, but also a spiritual level of fusion with Grimshaw's colors hiding in the depths of her powers. What I would ahve liked to see a little more would ahve been a few more elements of Grimshaw added to her design, maybe as armor or equipment, however on the whole the design is very strong and easily recognizable as Grimshaw and Seras.
9 recognizability, 8 creativity. Ray and X's influence are pretty plain to see in this fusion. The showing off of both their powers in this fusion was a nice touch. Mixing X's hat and Ray's headband also gives a nice affect, but I think the best part is probably the color mixing of the hair. Besides that it's a pretty straight-forward fusion
Judge 2: 6
Recognizability, 7 Creativity. It is a bit difficult to tell who is fused but not impossible, but the clothes and attitude show through.Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 7 creativity. I like the sense of power that this fusion gives off. Both X and Ray can be seen to have strong designs on their own. I like the new take you had on X's arm and the addition of blue flames on his coat. You can clearly see elements from both X and Ray together to create a unique hero with both of their powers together. Nice use of the color combination for the fusion. One thing that I would have liked to see more is a little more alteration on the coat or just having X being shirtless. Those are elements of Ray which seem to be a signature of his which would have greatly added to the fusion. Overall, a strong design with good knowledge of both character designs
9 recognizability, 8 creativity. This fusion is one of three Dee fusions in which Formal Dee's lycanthropic features take the spotlight. Mixing Seras' dragonic influence makes this for an interesting fusion.
Judge 2: 6 Recognizability, 7 Creativity. A very spiffy deesign, but it feels like dee with wings
Judge 3: 9 recognizability, 8 creativity. A really strong design, this fusion embodies both Seras and Dee's strong features while producing a new shape and structure that gives the design it's unique look. I also like the showcase of it's abilities, knowing that Seras can shoot fireballs while Dee cannot, it finds a nice middle ground. While I really like the overall design, I would have liked to see a little more done with the fusion's face. You can clearly see that this is Dee, however some extra elements such as tattoos or Sera's features could have benifited
Judge 1: 8 recognizability, 8 creativity. This fusion between a dragon-like creature and a machine works wonderfully giving an almost Yugioh like appearance to it. That being said it is a bit difficult to tell Bits specific influence here for all I know it could be some random machine not just Bits fused with Grimshaw. The fusion itself is definitely interesting to look at and the plug tail was a nice touch as were the metal wings (or wing like fins if that's what they are)
Judge 2: 6 Recognizability, 7 Creativity. EXTENSION CORD SNAKEEEEEEEE!!!!
Judge 3: 8 recognizability, 10 creativity. A very interesting entry, I really like the way you incorporated Bits and Grimshaw together, producing a large mechanical monster. You can see that the mechanical element of bits was integrated rather than added onto the original design of Grimshaw, making it a true fusion of grotesque horror. Although it is very clear that this is Grimshaw at first, it took me a minute to see Bit's design elements incorporated into Grimshaw. However, overall a very strong design while combining many elements taken from both parties.
Judge 1: 8 recognizability, 8 creativity. Another Dee fusion, this time makes use of the bird like features of Sutcher. With the lycanthropic tail of Dee this fusion hold a certain exotic feel to it.
Judge 2: 10
Recognizability, 8 Creativity. It is very easy to tell who is fused together and the result is greatJudge 3: 10 recognizability, 6 creativity. This fusion has a very strong recognizability. Being able to see the combination of Dee and Sutcher very clearly. I really like the smile that you gave the fusion giving us a peek into the mental state of this character and showing how it resembles Sutcher on both a physical and mental level. The level of details on the feathering is very good and the overall design is very strong, however it resembles a little too much to the original design of Sutcher and makes it feel more like Dee's head was placed onto Sutcher's body. I have to say this is one of the weaker fusions in terms of creativity. This does not discredit any of the amazing details and effort put in however. Still a very good piece.
Judge 1: 8 recognizability, 9 creativity. While it takes a bit of looking into, once you know about Cheryl's unstable dna you can understand the...monstrosity that is this fusion. A thing of true nightmares.....
Judge 2: 7 Recognizability, 9 Creativity. Hans and cheryl make a great abomination. The result is a mass of flash in the shape of the two characters.
Judge 3: 5 recognizability, 8 creativity. A truly grotesque creature, this fusion is the definition of science going horribly wrong. I really like the details and recognizability of it being a fusion of Hans. However I was unable to tell who this was a fusion with right of the bat and still struggled to see the resemblance to Cheryl. While I do love the twisted concept of Hans, I find it difficult to see any distinct of Cheryl remotely in this fusion. For that reason this particular fusion is getting a low score. However I do quite enjoy the twisted abomination and the literal concept of fusion with this design.
8 recognizability, 7 creativity. The final Dee fusion, while Dreamcast's influence is there it's not very...striking as it's mainly in the legs which, are very much like a lycanthrope's too begin with. Dreamcast's powers are also not taken advantage here.
Judge 2: 10 Recognizability, 8 Creativity. It is very easy to tell who is fused together and the result is great.
Judge 3: 8 Recognizability, 8 creativity. This psychological horror has a great design. You can really feel the insanity that comes about from Dreamcast in Dee's normally calm and introverted face. I Like the fact that you gave Dee Dreamcast's eyes and collar. The bloody eye is a nice touch as it's different from the noose from Dreamcast's design, but implies a similar message. As for the overall design, it's very simple and straightforward. While normally I would urge to see more creativity in designing the clothes differently, I understand that both Dee and Dreamcast have very simple designs. All things considered, I like this fusion as it hits on not necessarily a physical level, but really deep at a psychological level as well.
Judge 1: 9 recognizability, 8 creativity. The fusion definitely plays up Nova's scaredy-cat nature. The showing of the shadowshifter powers was a nice touch.
Judge 2: 10
Recognizability, 8 Creativity. This fusion is EASILY recognizable and the fusion makes a great result. Only small criticism is that it feels more like they were pieced together from pieces and parts and less like a fusion, but the result is still fantastic.Judge 3: 10 Recognizability, 5 creativity. This one is quite cute. I like the overall design of the fusion. Nice touch making each eye a different color. You can clearly see that this is Gry and Nova being fused together. One thing I really liked was the showcasing of Gry's shadow ability in one of the arms, showing that there's more in the fusion than just the surface design. I would have liked to see a little more fusion of the design rather than simply a mix and match clothes swap of the characters. It's great that you have Gry's features incorporated into nova's design, but maybe some more alterations to them would have added more uniqueness. I think what would have made the design better would have been to change the color palettes up, using a combination of both Gry and Nova to create a completely new design.
Judge 1: 10 recognizability, 9 creativity. This is really a twisted fusion, at first it didn't register but now that I've kind of taken it in..it's pretty crazy to think this could be a dog stuffed into a machine. The elements of both characters blend seamlessly and the fact that the eye changed colors is a nice touch.
Judge 2: 7 Recognizability, 9 Creativity. The creativity stems from not only fusing the character but going that extra mile to make it feel like an abomination.
Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 6 creativity. I really like this fusion. It's very robust and you can see the elements of both Predator and 121 clearly. Given the nature of the two characters, it's really interesting to see how you fused metal with flesh. Considering how Predator is already falling apart I like how he's been kinda patched up with 121's parts, especially with the addition of 121's arm. Gives the feeling of augmentation to Predator's old body. This really takes the concept of fusion in a very literal sense which I like. One thing I would have liked to see would be more elements of 121. The fusion feels a lot like 121 was taken for scraps and Predator was given an upgrade. That being said please don't feel discouraged by this at all. It's a really good fusion and I like the design very much.
8 recognizability, 7 creativity. An adorable yet sort of plain fusion. I'm not completely sure if anything more could have been done with these two but what was done leaves a bit more to be desired.
Judge 2: 8
Recognizability, 6 Creativity Honestly not the strongest fusion, but you can definitely tell who is fused and they work well together.
Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 7 creativity. I like the design. It's simple and you can clearly see that it's Nova and Briff as you've combined these elements very well together. What I really like is the use of different color eyes and markings to signify Briff and Nova's different elements. The hair is also quite a nice touch as you can see elements of both Briff and Nova's hair in both color and style. The clothes are simple, but I would have liked to see a little bit more flare or alteration with the overalls style which is a distinguishing feature of Briff. That being said, overall it's a very good fusion between the two.
Judge 1: 10 recognizability, 9 creativity. The main features of both characters are easily distinguished here the combination of a bird like man and a dragon creature makes for an interesting combination that is very interesting to look at.
Judge 2: 7 recognizability , 9 creativity. The feathers mixed with scales are a great mixture as well as the contrasting bright colors with earthy tones of the tail and pants.
Judge 3: 10 recognizability, 9 creativity. I really like how you can clearly see Grimshaw and Sutcher's elements. The color palette selection for this fusion is a clever blend of Grimshaw's signature green and Sutcher's navy blue in the feathers and body. One thing I really like is how you used Grimshaw's strong carapace as an armor for the fusion. There is little I can say that's bad about this fusion on a physical level. What would ahve been really nice is that his pose suggests he has powers within, but it would have been nice to see a hint of what it could possibly be. Aside from that a very, very strong fusion.
Judge 1: 10 recognizability, 7 creativity. It's very easy to tell both the characters featured in this fusion. That being said I don't feel as if much was done with the combination it almost feels like Rena grabbed a wig and changed clothes.
Judge 2: 9 Recognizability, 7 Creativity. The clothing and pose are great, but it feels like cosplay more than a fusion.
Judge 3: 7 recognizability, 5 creativity. I like the dark and powerful feeling you get from this fusion. The pose and design of the fusion is really nice as well. While I really like the design overall, the fusion felt a little bit lackluster. Reena and Rehana both have very similar characteristics which I understand is quite difficult to make clear in fusions sometimes, however I think you could have done more with their attire. Currently the coat and pants are very similar to that of Reena's original design. Adding some elements from Rehana's design to incorporate into Reena's longcoat would have made the fusion more vivid and exciting as well as maybe some design changes of the flames rather than having it only lick the bottom of the pants and coat. It would have also been really nice to seen something changed about the staff which Rehana normally uses. Though, to be honest I didn't realize that it wasn't Candy who you were fusing Reena with because Candy normally has the heart on her weapon. All in all, while the fusion is very recognizable to be Reena with Rehana, a little more design fusing would definitely add more excitement rather than simply swapping clothes from one OC to the next. And now....the lucky loser is...EVERYONE
Because of an admittedly bad gamble, I decided to make a wager for the lucky loser spot.
I numbered off the remaining 5 entrants and made number 6 "all".
....I don't think I need to explain what happened next.
